A good way to help your home sell faster is to stage it for home viewings. This simply means helping buyers see the best parts of the home and to set it up to impress them so you can sell fast and for a higher price. All you need to do is prepare the home to make it look great and will appeal to the higher paying buyers. Here’s how to do that.
Clean the House
The first step is to ensure that the home is deep cleaned when someone comes to see it. Everything from top to bottom of the home should be sparkling clean, particularly the areas that people spend more time in, such as the bathroom and the kitchen.
Get New Things
If you plan to replace your furniture or appliances in your new home, go ahead and do this now so you can showcase some new items in the home. This will help it look even smarter and potential buyers will see it as a higher value investment.
Even if you only replace a few things, such as your coffee maker or dishes, these can make a big impression. Likewise, you should fix any flaws that may affect the overall idea of what the home is like. If you have a cracked mirror, for example, replace it before anyone comes to see the home.
Put Things into Storage
To help improve the look of the home, take anything you’re not currently using and place in boxes to put into storage. This will help the entire house look neat and tidy and will help buyers feel that they too could live clutter free in the space. Now is a good time to move any hobby items out of the home until it sells. As a bonus, you’ll already be partially packed when it’s time for the move.
Eliminate Odours
If you have dogs or children, or even just spend a lot of time in your home, it will have a distinct scent. This can affect how people see your space when they walk in, so try making it smell homey. There are a few good ways to do this.
A pot of cinnamon sticks and cloves simmering on the stove, or some cloves and lemons will help the entire house smell like baking cooking. Alternatively, you could actually bake some cookies. Another option is to light scented candles. Try to avoid sprays, which may smell fake.
When you stage your home, you’re setting it up to help buyers see their ideal space. Make it feel and smell amazing and you’ll see offers coming in faster. It’s a tried-and-true method of selling.
